Music Ministry
Our Music D
ept is led by a wonderful Choir Director, George Wilkinson who has a great passion for music. George can be heard in his office and the hallways singing beautiful, happy tunes. Our Chancel Choir loves to sing and performs at different times of the year. Their Christmas Cantata is one not to be missed. The handbell Choir is made of up of dedicated individuals and usually blesses the congregation with a performance about once a month. All are welcome to join either Choir and would be embraced lovingly. The Chancel choir will resume practice on Wednesdays starting August 6, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. and the Handbell Choir practices on Sunday afternoons at 3:30 p.m. We also have a choir, just for children that practices on Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
Teddy Bear Ministry
The Teddy Bear Ministry is a wonderful outreach of our church. Christine Jordan began this ministry several years ago. Several times a year she and her "delivery crew" take bears (or rabbits, etc.,) to hospitals to patients in our area. Please contact Christine if you can help or have new bears to donate. Monetary donations will also be accepted to purchase bears, if you so desire. Checks should be made out to the church with a notation on the check "Teddy Bears."
3rd Sunday Giving

Don’t forget to bring your non-perishable food items to help support our local food bank, the Lake Houston Ministerial Alliance Food Bank, housed at First Baptist Church of Huffman. This is a community effort and we want to do our part to support this worthwhile ministry. We will bring these items to church every 3rd Sunday and drop them in the collections baskets by the doors. Please remember that we are providing food to needy families in the area and the food bank hands out a lot of high protein items such as peanut butter, tuna fish, and soups as well as staple foods such as rice, potatoes (boxed), and beans.
The "POP TABS" Program
The "POP Tabs" program is to benefit the Ronald McDonald House and is associated with Texas Children's Hospital. They collect the tabs off aluminum cans. They take only the tabs, not the entire can, because the metal is purer and more valuable since there is no paint on the tabs. They are also easier to store than the cans. Last year they made $10,000 for Ronald McDonald House.
If you would like to save your can tabs it would be appreciated. You may bring them to the church and we will make sure they get turned in. Also, there is a clear plastic container in the CFC and also in the break room where you can drop your tabs and we will be glad to get them to "Pop Tabs" program.
Video Ministry
LHUMC is offering a wonderful service! A video tape or audio CD is available for the asking! These are wonderful for those who cannot attend church or just because the worship service was so great you want to hear it again! They may be ordered through the church office or email Gary at lhumcmultimedia@gmail.com for more information.
